All prices use Net Total Return (NTR) indices denominated in EUR. NTR indices reinvest dividends after withholding tax, giving a realistic view of what a passive investor would earn before fund-level costs.
NTR indices don't include fund-level costs (TER, tracking error, bid-ask spreads). To account for this, the calculator has an annual cost field where you can deduct a percentage from your portfolio each year.
Global Government Bonds: Why Hedged?
The global government bond allocation uses the EUR-hedged version of the FTSE World Government Bond index. Currency hedging is essential for defensive bond allocations: without it, EUR/USD and EUR/JPY fluctuations would dominate returns, defeating the purpose of holding bonds for stability.
